INSTRUCTOR

Vancouver Performing Stars is looking for dedicated musical theatre, dance and voice instructors for children and youth programs. You must feel confident teaching classes independently and be willing to obtain and provide your vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to the start of your contract. We are currently hiring for our Fall term (Sept to Dec) programs as well as for our Spring term (April to June) and our Year-Long classes (Sept to June).

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed-term contract

Contract length: 1-2 months

Pay: From $27.00 per hour

Schedule: Dependent on class-schedules. VPS is open Monday through Sunday, with different classes every day.

Ability to commute/relocate: Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience: Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

STUDIO COORDINATOR

We are seeking a Studio Coordinator to oversee the administrative operations of our thriving performing arts studio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administrative tasks and excellent organizational skills. They will be responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks, including: general office duties, reception and administrative coordination. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager while also providing administrative support to various team members including Programming, Artistic Staff, Production, Finance and Marketing. The successful candidate must possess an excellent telephone manner and exceptional friendly interpersonal skills, which they employ while working on completing administrative tasks, all while being interrupted to greet children and parents, answer questions and assist clientele where necessary. To achieve this, flexibility, dependability, adaptability and a good sense of humour are essential. They must have excellent organizational skills and a high level of professionalism. Knowledge of the Google Suite, Canva and Squarespace are crucial.

Our ideal candidates must have a love for children and the arts.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage email communication with staff, directors and customers

  • Receive, process, respond and distribute incoming communications

  • Stock and maintain apparel and merchandise store

  • Coordinate with Programming, Operations, Production and Finance to assist where needed

  • Schedule meetings and create meeting agendas

  • Maintain general office, lobby and studio cleanliness

  • Order office and janiotrial supplies

  • Manage rental invoicing

  • Coordinate rental viewings and contracts

  • Manage front desk operations, including greeting visitors and answering phone calls

  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, proofreading, and maintaining office supplies

  • Utilize computerized systems for scheduling, record-keeping, and data management

  • Coordinate studio activities and events

  • Assist with administrative tasks using Google Suite

  • Assist with Event Communication, Birthday Parties, meetings and coordination

  • Sell event production tickets and process online orders

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Friendly, warm and approachable manner when greeting clientele both on the phone or in-person

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks

  • Technically savvy - proficient computer skills in the Google Office suite including calendar maintenance, document editing and excel

  • Willingness to learn new programs and & systems

  • Ability, recommend changes to come up with new, or change existing, systems and procedures so that they are more efficient

  • Ability to coordinate and keep track of multiple student accounts and bookings ▪ Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities

  • Ability to prioritize tasks

  • Proactive in approaching other departments for volunteer opportunities

  • A passion for the arts and working with children

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
